The examined life

Writer: Elizabeth MusgraveElizabeth Musgrave

Life runs away with you. Even now with the job left long since and the children with children of their own, life throws days at you so full you can barely draw breath. It is easy to find that whole weeks have slipped away filled with the mundane. And the mundane is not the same as the everyday. Everyday life is full of moments of joy if I stop to notice: the quiet cup of coffee in the sunshine, the plate of scrambled egg, the sun coming through the trees in the churchyard. But things need to be noticed. Adventure needs to be sought. Less screen time, more life.

You need to climb the gate sometimes.

That's the essence I think: to use screen time to expand life rather than just soaking up time. Not as easy as it sounds!
